Story of Jake’s Place
Jacob Myles Cummings Nasto (aka “Baby Jake”) was born on July 9, 2005 with Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome (HLHS). In Jake’s lifetime he had four open heart surgeries, several strokes, and was extremely small for his age.
After Jake’s passing his parents, Kate Cummings and Joseph Nasto, started a nonprofit in their son’s name – Build Jake’s Place.
Some of their fondest memories were of Jake playing at a playground. Thing was…he had a difficult time due to his size and cardiac condition. So, Kate and Joe, decided to build a “boundless” playground. Specially designed, so even children with a disability can reach the highest point of the playground. A playground design to have no limits.
Four years later, on October 15, 2011, their nonprofit, Build Jake’s Place, opened the first “boundless” playground in (Southern) New Jersey called, Jake’s Place.
